Yes, it feeds on fertilisers
Thursday, January 11th, 2007How random can my entries get? Very!
Here’s my infamous JU-ON look, taken pre-Chinese New Year in 2006.
Here’s my hair during Chinese New Year 2006. Take an educated guess over which one I am :P
Here’s my hair in September 2006:
My hair now is two inches longer than this. If I wait another six months, my hair will probably grow long enough in time for the opening of the new Ju-On film…
And now, for a totally random insert in a totally random blog entry:
Do you think I should ask him "Eh, if you’re such a legend, how come my mother don’t know you one?"
That’ll be too funny.
(In case you don’t know, the last insertion is a hint. Wink wink!)
I don’t heart the iPhone
Thursday, January 11th, 2007Edie, is it, is it a baby shower?
Friday, January 5th, 2007Hooray for BBCE! It totally screwed up my TV-watching schedule, but what the hey, I welcome BBCE with open arms, a glass of wine and some chips.
As usual, AbFab is wonderful darling, just wonderful, but what I’m really excited about is Extras! I can’t get into Ricky Gervais’s The Office, but damn Extras is laugh-your-ass-off funny!
Okay, enough about TV. I know I have no life, but going on and on about how much joy a new TV channel has given me will definitely confirm it.
******************************************
Let’s start at the very beginning.
On Dec 30, some of my colleagues and I went for a two-day, one-night training couse thing at a God-forsaken place. God with a capitol (capital?) G because the place is now owned (or used, I dunno) by the Malaysian Bible Seminary.
So, ghosts weren’t a problem.
However, it was the end of the year, and a majority of us didn’t really want to be there. I had planned on being a sourpuss and to refuse to join in any of the activities throughout the whole thing, but I guess that took more effort than I had expected.
So, I caved and started to mingle and "be a team player" halfway through day one. What is it about the end of the year that makes people forgive, forget and try to be a better person?
The course taught us a few things about ourselves and the people we work with. I learned that though I like to work alone, when forced (and teamed with tolerable people), I perform better.
I learned that I can be bloody patient with some people.
I learned that some people may appear to be smart, but many things they say and do prove just how stupid they really are.
I learned that I sometimes talk too much about myself to people, making them think that I have become their best friend. Or worse, that I am seeking acceptance to be their best friend. (I’m not. Sometimes, I just can’t shut up.)
Of course, there are other work-related things that I learned, but who cares about that right?
I’ve also learned that I’ve finally become a stranger among my circle of friends back home. While I admit that I have always known the change would come one day, it still does leave me with an achy, breaky heart (damn that country hick Billy Ray Cyrus! Why must he be on the Disney Channel now??)
I learned that when tragedy strikes in your family, there’s always a cousin or two who knows exactly how you feel. Group hug!
I hope that I can learn more things about myself this year, the good things and the bad. I’ve passed that somewhat scary 30-year age barrier, and am now looking forward to finishing off another decade, and then another, and then another, and then another, and then after that, I think I would indeed be happy enough if I could finish off five years in my last decade.
A hug, a nod and a prayer to the cousin who never got the chance to dance with his daughter on her wedding day, the nephew who never got the chance to bring home the girl of his dreams, and the young friends who never got the chance to be the men they were meant to be. Sogni li vedro, mi fratelli.
Woohoo!
Tuesday, January 2nd, 2007Dear Lord, thank you for restoring the Internet.
and a happy new year to everyone!
