Merry Christmas to everyone. Remember to eat loads, drink even more and pray that you get truckloads of presents. Or love, whicever floats your boat.
After several days of walking about aimlessly at shopping malls trying to think clearly and making one too many backup plans (not to mention spending money I don’t have), I finally got the nerve to send in my "letter" on Wednesday afternoon.
Unfortunately, this morning I got a call from the secretary saying that I need to get the letter "cleared", or something like that. So, I have to wait till next week to figure out if things will go my way at the office. I hope it will, I hope it will, I hope it will…
So anyways, I’ve been buying Christmas presents for friends. Some I would consider are pretty "thoughtful" gifts, others are just quirky things I hope will be appreciated by the receivers. I’m planning to wrap some of my CDs to give - lucky dip style - to guests at my Boxing Day party (ask me if you’re invited, hehe), so if you’re lucky, you might get an album that you actually have been wanting.
Oh, erm, many thanks to all the music companies for said CDs… hahaha. Hey, I’ve been very good to all you this year, haven’t I? Almost ALL your CDs got pub
lished mah…
Anyways….
I’ve been wanting to post this picture for so long. I think it’s so cute. Look at all those happy and some, drunk, faces… (see if you can find me!).
I’ve known some of these friends for 20 years. Good Lord, are we really that old??? I think the next time we’re all home we should take another picture like this, no? And one without the Dunhills (I support you Allan! :P) and wine glasses in the frame, thank you. I should take one with the boys too, if I actually get to see them that is, eh BenG?
Happy holidays people. Peace and joy to you and yours.
Meanwhile, Miss Pih, Barney has something to say to you:
School’s out so I’m back to doing nothing yahoo!
Well, not really. I plan to ask for a reassignment to my old desk, but I doubt that I will be that lucky as to actually get it approved. My old boss asked me why I accepted the job if I didn’t want to be reassigned in the first place. Well, that statement kind of sucked. I was never given a chance to properly say anything in the first place, and whenever I did, it seemed like nobody cared. I told him that and all he could say was, "is it?" I blame it all on the old coot who conveniently retired a few months back…
Never mind. I’ll still ask for a reassignment, there’s no harm in trying my luck right? Even so, does anybody have a job for me just in case I blow my top in the big boss’s office when he tells me to fuck off and get back to work? I can type real well…
Anyways, I now have time to do more entertainment stories, something I have missed doing tremendously. I’ve got tons of ideas lined up since November, but whether or not I’ll actually do all of them is another thing altogether hehe.
One of the reasons why I can’t keep my head on my stories is my Christmas list. I’ve started shopping for presents already. Well, actually most of the presents I’ve wrapped and placed under my dainty gold-and-red tree are for me…
I’ve got loads of gifts to get, but the good thing is that I know more or less what to get each person. The trouble is that I don’t have much money now and will have to wait until the 20th for bonus and other claims to come in. Woohoo!
I shop great under pressure.
In the meantime, here’s a mini Christmas list for those of you who don’t have much time to shop or just can’t be bothered to sit down and really think of what gifts to get:-
Books - hey, you get to keep the receipts for tax purposes…
CDs, DVDs - well, you actually need to know the person well enough to get him or her a specific album/movie. Don’t assume that all chicks love romantic comedies. Some chicks, like myself, love stupid films from the likes of Rob Schneider. (Don’t bother getting me any of his movies cause I’ve seen them all.)
Clothes, shoes - unless you know exactly which blouse/dress/pants/shoes your girlfriend wants, don’t even attempt to get her clothes. Instead, try your luck with gift certificates. Sure, they’re less personal but at least you know they’ll be appreciated.
Accessories - I like cheap stuff, so if anyone were to give me those 3-for-10 earrings, I’d be pretty happy. But, not everyone’s like me.
Lotions, creams and other moisturisers - If the person works in an office that’s freaking cold all the time, then hand lotions or creams are a very good idea. Try to avoid those that are heavily scented, unless you know what scents the person likes.
Cupcakes - bake them yourself, or get them from Cuppacakes by +wondermilk (woohoo! free advertising for those people!) http://cuppacakes.blogspot.com/ they even have cute delivery boys now who will send them right to your doorstep.
Mp3 players - If you’re generous and have wads of money rudely sticking out from your back pocket, mp3 players make great gifts. The new iPod Shuffle is only RM399, the new 2G Nano is RM699 while the newer 8G Nano is RM1149. Or you can get the new 80G iPod which is going for RM1699… Otherwise, get the Sony ones, they’re cheaper I think.
Disposable cameras - Cheaper than normal cameras and you can use them at your Christmas party. Polaroids are cool too. Otherwise, get somebody a memory card/stick for their digital cameras.
Chocolates - okay, they’re cop-out gifts, but the way you present them makes a lot of difference. Get individually wrapped chocolates/candies, put them in nice jars, boxes, glasses etc, or put different types of chocs/candies and wrap them up nicely together. If you’re giving them to a kid, don’t bother. For a kid, quantity is what matters most.
Get ready for my Christmas list!
