On a clear day, you can see forever…

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

… from my new apartment.

:)

I wanted to wait until all my furniture is in the house (ok it’s not a house, but it’s mine and I’ll call it what I want) to ahem, officially announce my latest purchase, which is also known as my new burden in life.

It’s got three rooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a dining area, a living room, a wet area and a huge corridor, and a kick-ass view of PJ, Subang Jaya, Shah Alam and yes, on a clear day you can actually see the great KLCC and KL Tower too.

The BEST thing about the view is that I actually can’t see my office (or perhaps I choose not to see it), a building that’s annoyingly visible from hundreds of place I like to frequent.

I took pictures, of course, but I have not the time to upload any yet because I’ve been busy spending money like crazy (sofas, fridge and other things cost a bitch!). The whole packing, cleaning, moving, unpacking, re-cleaning process is starting to take a toll on me too.

The good thing is that HSH is already in KL, and has officially become my first house guest. I’m also getting a second house guest next week, and she’ll be paying me in deep-fried fish and other deep-fried sea creatures brought all the way from KK, courtesy of either mummy or eldest brother. YAY!

Hotel La Melodious is now open. However, please excuse the temporary mess while your host sorts out the minute details like getting the best mints to put under your pillows and finding the nicest high ball glass to pour your nightcap in….

To make reservations, call me. :)

For your listening pleasure, check out:

Jamie T: Sheila

Lily Allen: Smile

Rogue Traders: Voodoo Child

Blue October (thanks C.R.Y!): Hate Me

Paris Hilton (muahahahaha): Stars Are Blind

Nelly Furtado & Timbaland: Promiscuous Girl

James Morrison: You Give Me Something

Zutons: Valerie

Don’t bother listening to the new Justin Timberlake song, Sexyback or whatever it’s called. I so prefer Paris Hilton’s single. ~guilty pleasure~ hehe

You probably can’t find most of the singles I listed in shops though, so I suggest you go to www.bbc.co.uk/radio1 and listen to radio shows. My favourite DJ Chris Moyles is on a break and will be back in two weeks, but JK&Joel and Scott Mills are pretty funny too.

Oh and for Blue October, go here: http://www.blueoctoberfan.com/foiled/audio.php

Ronnie, if you’re reading this, I want Blue October. Thanks. Yes, I am shamelessly asking for free CDs. It’s what I do. Deal with it.

Since I got a request for one more World Cup entry, I can’t help but oblige. Gleefully too.

Actually, I’m glad that the World Cup is over. I no longer spend countless hours scouring the photo system in the office for pictures of men in shorts, which basically means that I now have time to concentrate on my actual work, and more time to do other things.

But this World Cup has been good to me. Not only did my team win, I also won a substantial amount of money in the office betting pool (yeeha!). And I also got to make fun of Brazil and England fans. Ah, what more could I ask for? :)

So, in my last tribute to the Italy football team, I give you ahem, more pictures. Haha.

Italians Italians in formal wear are sooooo yummy.

Even Lippi looks good!

GannaroLook at Gennaro! Who knew under all that hair is a good-looking head…  :P

Gatuso

FrenchMeanwhile, in the land of croissants… Thierry Henry lends a shoulder for David Trezeguet to cry on. Lilian claps for himself.

FrenchtI think the Italians look much better in suits than the French, no? Oui, ma non!

Look for Zidane! This was in 1985. I was nine then. How old were you?

*clue - He’s the odd one out.

JP said to keep it simple but I DON’T THINK SO! :P

It was 1994 and I had just entered the sixth form when the World Cup started. The boys in school were trying to intimidate (or perhaps, trying to show off) the girls and forced us to pick a team. I chose Italy simply because everyone else had chosen either France or Brazil. The latter won that year, but it didn’t matter because I had already, in my own weird little way, pledged allegiance to the Italians.

It’s not a great story, hell, it’s not even an interesting story. But it’s my story to tell, and it’s the story I will tell my grandchildren when I’m drunk and delirious!

My 12-year wait was all worthwhile when the Azzuri scored all five penalty shots in the World Cup 2006 final match against France early this morning. Overjoyed is an understatement, indeed. I’ve had only three hours sleep, but who the hell cares? I’m running on ecstasy here derived from Italy’s win! So JP, I’m sorry, but let me indulge myself this one time. Once in four years only ma! :)

So here’s a toast to my dear, dear Azzuri boys, many of whom face the possiblity of having to downgrade and play in Italy’s Serie C… but that’s another story.

And now, for the man of the match. I applaud Gianluigi Buffon for his keen eye and his wonderful reflexes, Genarro Gatusso for his hardwork and agility, Gianluca Zambrota for his determination and his never-say-die attitude.

But I take my hat off to Fabio Cannavaro for his finesse, his passion, his consistency, his dedication to the game and his sportsmanship (plus his good looks too). I think FIFA should upgrade the golden ball to a platinum one (a diamond ball is just too feminine and kinda impossible) and give it to Capitan Cannavaro.

FabcaZidane, THIS is how you should cap off your World Cup appearance.

NOT LIKE THIS!!  Zidane

Auguri Azzuri!

Yay! It’s a new month, which means I can upload 50 pics again. Haha. My life is a sad existence. Ah, but who cares, when my boys in blue have made it to the final four. Tomorrow morning’s match will be a heart attack-inducing one, so I don’t know if I can handle watching it…

Still, I want to enjoy the few remaining hours of gloating to the hoardes of England and Brazil fans in the office first before I start praying for the Azzuri to win against Germany.

So, as if you didn’t already expect it, here are pictures of the lucky, lucky boys, and one of Dino Zoff. (Don’t know who he is? Go find out yourself.)

There’s Captain Fabio playing horsey with Gianluigi this time.

Fab Makes you wonder what he does with his wife in their bedroom…. :P
